Cannon Beach, Family Photography

It is wild still, the Oregon Coast. And some days it can be a little impossible. With sideways rain, blowing wind, whipping sand. It can be in the dead of winter and you will still take off your socks and shoes just to walk down its beaches. Even if your feet feel like they will fall off from the cold, and bottom of your legs are red with sand burn, just the sight alone will make the trip worth it.

We always seem to get lucky during our time together, early in the mornings along the coast. We haven’t had a bad run yet. This time was just magical. Thank you Renelt Fam!

Portraits. Simple.

Sure, we live near the Rocky Mountains and can go outside to photograph in some of the most beautiful landscapes in the country. But sometimes, some of the most beautiful locations can be right in our own homes. Just the right light, the right background, and the best subjects in the world.

as always. #makeportraits

A double digit milestone.

More often than not I find myself thinking about how unbelievable it is that I have a ten year old. Or that in just five years this kid will start to drive, or in eight years she will be off to college. It is mind boggling to me - I really have no words for how foreign this feeling is, but what I do know is that there is this lingering mild form of panic, a little confusion, and a smidge of sadness that I find myself plagued with every time she does something new and on her own. I find me here having to remind myself of the good parts of this growing up business. The excitement, the journey, the knowledge, and the life that she will make for herself. It will be okay, mom. It will be OKAY!

Paint Mines Magic - {Colorado Photographer}

Brooke came all the way from Del Ray Beach FL to start an EPIC road trip with her adorable babes. They stopped on the way to adventure with me at the Paint Mines here in Colorado. The Paint Mines resemble strange formations that should be on another planet. They are pretty amazing, and these three that graced their landscapes were even more amazing-er (its a word).

I just love that this amazing momma annually road trips with her little ones. Can you imagine the memories and experiences that they will all take with them as they grow. I am fully for experiences over material items. They will always always remember these trips, they will pass them down to their own kids. And I cannot be more grateful to have been a part of their story this year.

Wind. Hurricane Strength {Mama & Me Sessions}

I am not kidding. It was INSANE up at Red Rocks this weekend with the wind. WE powered through about 10 minutes to get just a few shots and then called it. Rescheduled, but still so happy we were able to get these few, just for show.

I think the madness, or the chaos, or the unplanned situation makes some of the best images because that is life. Life is a mess, it is blurry sometimes, it is flying by the seat of your pants. THESE images are life.
